Excitement seemed to permeate the air as Family and friends gathered in anticipation to welcome Soldiers home during a redeployment ceremony for the 287th Military Police Company, 97th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade Jan. 1 at Building 88312.

About 160 Soldiers were deployed for a year to conduct police mentorship training with Afghan police.

“(I am) very excited,” said Laura Ball, military spouse, Centralia, Mo.

Ball had not seen her husband in eight months prior to the redeployment ceremony.

“We’re so proud of our Soldier,” she said.

While waiting for his arrival, Ball took a peak out the window.

The buses had just pulled up, Ball said.

Ball was waiting with her children, Rylee, 2, and Lucas, 11 months old.

She also was joined by her sister-in-law, Rochelle Ball, and parent-in-laws, Rhoda and Roger Ball, Centralia, Mo.

“We’re very excited,” Roger Ball said.

As the company made its entrance, bursts of cheers erupted throughout the stands of Family and friends spotting their returning Soldier.

After a brief pause in formation, Soldiers were officially dismissed and took off in search of  loved ones.

“It’s exciting – good to be home,” said 1st Lt. Ryan Ball, 287th MP Co. “(I am) just happy to see my little kids – they’re all grown up – and see the parents and the wife and it’s just exciting. It’s overwhelming.”

“It feels indescribable to be home,” said Capt. Scott Grimsey, commander, 287th MP Co.

Coming back from deployment puts everything in perspective, Grimsey added.
